Since 2012 the annual Caribbean Kite Festival has been held on the Saturday prior to Easter Sunday each year. This event is held at Katy Park, 24927 Morton Road, Katy, Texas 77493 between the hours of 12 pm and 9 pm. The 7th Annual staging for the Caribbean Kite Festival will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Katy Park.
During the Easter season, the Caribbean Kite Festival is seen as a cultural exposition as well as a sentimental token to all Caribbean natives. It is planned with the intention of keeping our culture alive as well as teaching others about the meaning of our heritage. Every individual attending this festival is able to experience the culture.
The event is geared towards highlighting the Caribbean tradition of kite flying to the Houston, Katy, Cypress, Pearland and the other communities in Texas. Some of the features include a kite flying competition along with other categories, bun eating contest, domino game, tug-a-war, steel pan band, kids build a kite workshop along with some of the best Caribbean dishes, and music. Our diverse and friendly team looks forward to seeing you at this year's festival.
